2019 Capital Clubhouse Gala

On October 23, 2019, Capital Clubhouse held its annual benefit at the Embassy of New Zealand, co-hosted by Her Excellency Ambassador Rosemary Banks. Two hundred and fifty people gathered to hear stories from current Capital Clubhouse members on the community they are creating for individuals with mental illness in the national capital region. Ambassador Banks welcomed the guests, and the keynote speech was delivered by the Honorable Joseph Kennedy III, who accepted an award on behalf of his cousin, former Congressman and tireless mental health advocate, the Honorable Patrick Kennedy. Hakaworks, New Zealand's premiere Maori dance company, thrilled the guests with a traditional Maori welcoming dance. The Board and Benefit Committee would like to thank the Embassy of New Zealand as well as our other generous sponsors and donors:

Capital Clubhouse Benefit 2018

On November 8th, 2018, Capital Clubhouse Inc. celebrated its soft opening with a Benefit at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC.  The event had over 200 attendees and featured Bestselling Author and Mental Health Advocate, Pete Earley. Capital Clubhouse Inc. has opened its doors and staff and charter members are setting up a routine based on the work-ordered day.  The Board and Benefit Committee would like to thank the Embassy of Italy as well as our other generous sponsors and donors.

2017 CAPITAL CLUBHOUSE GALA

On November 9th, 2017, Capital Clubhouse Inc. hosted its annual Gala at the DAR Museum in Washington, DC. The event had almost 200 attendees and featured remarks by renowned community psychiatrist, Ralph Aquila, M.D., the Medical Director of Fountain House in New York City, the original clubhouse.

The Board and Benefit Committee would like to thank the attendees, Dr. Aquila, the DAR Museum, Frederik De Pue’s Annapolis Restaurant, Flamant, Rappahannock Oyster Company, Jaleo by José Andres, students and teachers from the Columbia Heights Education Campus, Suzanne Codi Floral Design, Kwik Kopy DC, and Sarah Nixon from the Beach Plum Inn for their generous support of this event.

2016 Capital Clubhouse Gala

Capital Clubhouse held its third annual fundraising gala and silent auction at the historic DAR Museum Library and O'Byrne Gallery on November 10, 2016. Two hundred guests bid on vacation houses and getaways and enjoyed food from ten local chefs who contributed signature hors d'oeuvres and desserts. The event helped raise over $50,000 for Capital Clubhouse.

Kay Redfield Jamison, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, co-director of Mood Disorders Center at John's Hopkins Hospital, and noted author of An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Mood and Madness, and Touched with Fire: Manic Depressive Illness and the Artistic Temperament was the keynote speaker.
